Granddaughter Furious Over Anonymous Note Sent To South Jersey Couple

OCEAN CITY, N.J.(CBSNewYork) -- Some might call it passive aggressive, others may call it rude, but whatever you call it an anonymous note that landed in the mail box of an elderly Ocean City couple.

"I am trying to sell million dollar homes in the neighborhood. I drive my clients around and they see your car parked sideways on the front lawn. You have a driveway - use it!" the note said.

Stephanie Powley of Philadelphia told CBS 2's Todd Quinones that the letter, supposedly written by a real estate agent from an unknown agency, was mailed to her 80-year-old grandparents' home earlier this week. Powely penned an online response that has gotten a big response on social media.

In her response Powely criticized the writer's "sloppy, handwritten, unprofessional, anonymous, and contemptuous note." She said that her grandparents have lived in the neighborhood for years and that her grandfather parks his car on the yard to be closer to the front door.

Powley, 30, called the supposed agent "pretentious" and a "coward," she said that her grandparents are upset and feel as though they are being watched.

The purported letter and Powley's response have gotten more than 1,200 shares on Facebook and a post on the Ocean City Patch.
