Gov. Christie On WFAN: Bring On Super Sunday!

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Players are done speaking to the media. The coaches held their final press conference on Friday.

We've exhausted the New York-New Jersey debate. Security plans are set and the forecast is warming up.

There's only one thing left.

Bring on Super Bowl XLVIII!

"We're ready for Sunday," N.J. Governor Chris Christie said Friday on WFAN's "Boomer & Carton" show. "I went and visited the security station we have at the Meadowlands, it's an impressive operation. I think everybody should be confident on Sunday that they're going to have a safe, secure and enjoyable time.

"And the weather keeps getting better by the minute."

It certainly is. What was once Christie's "biggest concern" -- a winter storm hitting the Tri-State area before the big game -- is now really nothing to worry about, as Sunday's forecast calls for temperatures in the 40s and little threat of precipitation.

"The fact that the weather report keeps getting better (will) let us show everybody that the enjoyable time they've been having all week in this area is going to be capped off by a great game on Sunday night," said Christie, who added that N.J. workers were "very ready" for a snowstorm. "As Governor of the state that's hosting this thing, it's a really fun, fun thing for me to do."

Christie, who will be sitting in the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority's luxury box for the game, didn't play up the New York-New Jersey rivalry that has been festering in the run-up to Super Sunday.

But he did make it a point to highlight the goings on in the Garden State, which is hosting the teams, their practices and the game itself.

"I think everybody's really loved it over here," Christie said. "You know, we have the teams staying here in Jersey City. We have them practicing in Florham Park and East Rutherford. And so the players are in New Jersey most of the time. Media day was here. The folks here are really excited, they're really welcoming, the restaurants and all the different events that we're having over here have been really great."

Super Bowl XLVIII between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks is scheduled to kick off at 6:25 p.m. Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
