Gov. Christie Hears From Jersey Shore Residents At Belmar Town Hall Meeting
BELMAR, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - Gov. Chris Christie held another town hall meeting on superstorm Sandy aid Tuesday in Belmar.
As WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported, it has been nearly 17 months since Sandy roared ashore and devastated homes and businesses. Some of those who are affected by the storm made their voices heard Tuesday.
Therese Daidone said she's filled out all of the paperwork but hasn't received any aid to fix her Brick Township house.
"I need my home back," she told the governor. "I just bought the home a year ago. I'm paying rent, a mortgage."
The house was actually bought a year before the storm.
The governor assured Daidone and others that help is on the way.
"First of all, we're not sitting on any money. In fact, we're waiting for the next tranche of money," Christie said.
The governor expects $1.4 billion to arrive this spring.
There were no protesters and no questions about the George Washington Bridge lane closure scandal at this town hall, Haskell reported.
Some of Christie's recent town halls were interrupted briefly by demonstrators.
