Car Fire Shuts Down Upper Level Of Outbound George Washington Bridge
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A car fire shut down all lanes on the upper level of the outbound George Washington Bridge Tuesday afternoon.
As Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2, the black sport-utility vehicle caught fire on the upper level of the bridge during the afternoon rush.
As of just after 5 p.m., Port Authority of New York and New Jersey firefighters were using axes to break the windows of the SUV.
The driver was not spotted at the scene. There were no reports of injuries.
All upper-level lanes of the outbound George Washington Bridge were shut down as of the 5 p.m. hour.
