Friends Search For Missing Fashion Designer Jay Ott
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A frantic search was under way Thursday for a fashion designer who has been missing since he left his Bushwick, Brooklyn apartment this past weekend.
James Ott, 31, who also goes by Jay Ott, was last seen leaving his apartment at the McKibbin Lofts in Bushwick – walking north on Bushwick Avenue at the corner of Boerum Street – at 4:35 a.m. Sunday, according to a missing persons flier.
He was last seen wearing a blue cap, a dark denim-style jacket, loose-fitting light-colored pants, and dark shoes.
Ott is described as a white male standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, with light brown hair, blue eyes and glasses.
A Facebook page has been set up for the effort to find Ott.
Published reports said friends and colleagues at The Dock Group design studio, where Ott works as a design director, became concerned when he did not come to work on Monday.
Ott works in the studio for former model Rosetta Getty, who is set to launch a signature collection this fall, according to Women's Wear Daily.
He also co-wrote the 2011 book, "Collective Fashion Wisdom: 90 Questions, 450 Answers, 5 Points of View," according to published reports.
He also worked with the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen on their high-end fashion line for The Row, according to a published report.
Anyone with information on Ott's disappearance was asked to contact the 90th Police Precinct, at (718) 963-5368, or "Friends of Jay" at (718) 710-7919.
