Latest French Bulldog Stolen On Long Island Found Safe

BAY SHORE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Hours after a French bulldog was reunited with her family in Huntington, another Long Island family got good news that their stolen pup was found safe.

Zushi is an adorable 3-month-old male French bulldog who loves to play and cuddle with his owner, Catherine Vasquez. But brazen burglars swiped Zushi from his home during a burglary, CBS2's Thalia Perez reported Sunday.

However, the dog was found Sunday night and was reunited with its owner at an Animal Emergency Hospital.

"I knew he was going to come home and I knew I was gonna bring him home, so I'm very happy he's here," Vasquez said.

The hospital's Mary Kelly said someone dropped off the dog, which has a microchip.

"We called the microchip company and once we got the name and everything we were able to say his name and he got so excited," Kelly said.

Vasquez said Zushi was stolen from her Farrington Avenue home in Bay Shore sometime between 8 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Vasquez said the burglars broke in through the back door. She showed Perez the new doorknob she installed Sunday.

Vasquez said in addition to Zushi, the burglars got away with clothes, jewelry, purses and about $4,000 in cash. She said she believes it wasn't a random burglary.

"I think the people that did it probably know us," she said. "They know we sell designer clothing, so I have a feeling we were targeted for the stuff that we own."

Zushi's theft came on the heels of another French bulldog named Stella being taken from a home in Huntington during a robbery on Thanksgiving day. Stella was reunited with her family after police found her 40 miles away.

Police said so far no arrests have been made in either case.

CBS2's Thalia Perez contributed to this report.
