Francesa: Jets Have 'To Start To Think' About Getting Fitzpatrick Deal Done After Draft

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The New York Jets are still dealing with the Ryan Fitzpatrick saga as the NFL Draft takes place in two days.

The two sides have yet to agree to a deal, but Mike Francesa believes that's not such a bad thing right now.

"The Jets have the whole Fitzpatrick thing still hanging over their head as we get closer to the draft, but remember, things don't get done until they have to get done, and there has been no reason for that thing to get done any quicker than now," Francesa said.

Francesa added, however, the Jets are going to need to figure out what to do with Fitzpatrick shortly after the draft.

"But once you hit May, and once you want to start to think about planning and putting your team together, and putting your team out of the field, and getting OTAs, when you start to think about all that stuff, you want to know what your team is," Francesa said.

He continued, "So to this point it's fine, but from here, if you are anybody who has anything to do with coaching that team, you want to start to put the pieces in place after this weekend and you want to know who the pieces are. So that's really, I think, after this weekend, you got to start to think very seriously about this and get this all done."

Francesa also talked about Neil Walker's torrid start with the Mets and Nathan Eovaldi's dominant performance for the Yankees Monday night.
