Flying Manhole Cover Leaves Woman, 2 Children Injured In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A manhole cover went flying Friday evening in the Bronx, leaving a woman and two children injured.

The Con Edison underground service box exploded at 188th Street and Webster Avenue in the Fordham Heights section of the Bronx, the FDNY said.

The cover left three people injured – a woman and who fell, and two children who were injured by the manhole cover, the FDNY said.

Two of the injured were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital Bronx. All the victims suffered minor injuries, officials said.

Witnesses claimed there were at least four explosions in a two-block area.
