Some 4,000 sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen are expected to take part in this year's events.
The flotilla includes five U.S. Navy ships, two Coast Guard cutters and one Royal Canadian Navy ship.
1010 WINS' Al Jones and WCBS 880's Marla Diamond were aboard the USS Kearsarge as it docked near the Intrepid.
"They're proud of me back home so that's always good thing to have, having people proud of you back home," Lance Cpl. Raven Moore said.
For Harlem native Daniel Jimenez, it's pizza time.
"I don't know, I might have to keep a good distance between my whites and the grease," Jimenez said.
"I get to see my family, it's pretty cool, they get to see what I do on an every day basis," a Navy engineer from Mariners Harbor said.
The USS Kearsarge is open for public tours through Memorial Day.
This year's Fleet Week celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Naval Construction Force, known as the Seabees, whose motto is "We build, we fight," 1010 WINS' John Montone reports.
