First Alert Weather: Red Alert for downpours, gusting winds Wednesday
Alerts & advisories
Red Alert: Starting 3 a.m. Wednesday and lasting until the front passes, likely after 10 p.m.
Advisory: Wind Advisory from 7 a.m. Wednesday - 7 a.m. Thursday
Rain forecast
We saw a decent band of windswept rain passing Tuesday night, and we can expect more waves of showers and embedded downpours Wednesday. There will be breaks, but we're not anticipating much sunshine.
There is a lower-end risk for widespread flooding, but our ground is fairly saturated, so we could see some localized flooding. Rainfall totals are expected between .5-1.5 inches.
Wind forecast
Wind gusts will reach up to 50 mph inland, but also at the coastlines. Everyone will see gusty winds that could take some tree limbs down or knock around unsecured objects.
Temperature forecast
Mild temps are expected, as well as a sharp temperature drop off overnight from the 60s to the 30s, all driven by strong winds. Areas north of the city could see some frozen precipitation on the backside of the front, with some isolated slick spots possible early Thursday.
By Thursday morning, many will have temperature readings of 25-35 degrees but feeling like the teens and 20s with harsh winds.
