Tropical Storm Ophelia formed Friday
Tropical Storm Ophelia formed off the coast of South Carolina and Georgia Friday afternoon. It was packing 60 mph winds and moving north/northwest at 12 mph.
Ophelia's track had it moving up the east coast, and it was expected to impact the Tri-State Area.
Red Alert Saturday
Red Alert Saturday for periods of heavy rain (localized flooding), gusty winds and coastal flooding. Up to three inches of rain is expected, and localized flooding may be possible in some areas.
Forecast
Today: Increasing clouds with highs around 70.
Tonight: Mainly dry evening. Rain develops overnight from south to north. Rain intensifies overnight into Saturday and is heavy through the morning.
Tomorrow: Rain, which could be heavy at times, and blustery. Rough surf, dangerous rip currents and minor coastal flooding. Cooler with highs around 60. Gusty winds of up to 50 mph may blow through. Rain eases in the afternoon.
