A Red Alert was in effect due to the threat of isolated severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall that could lead to localized flooding but has since expired. A flash flood warning for parts of Suffolk County has expired.

Early morning storms bring flooding concerns

Forecast: It will be generally quiet through the middle part of the afternoon, then there's a chance of showers and thunderstorms late this afternoon (mainly after 6 p.m.) across the interior.

Otherwise, expect muggy conditions with highs in the low 80s.

A few showers and thunderstorms will likely push through this evening with an isolated severe thunderstorm not out of the question; less activity is expected overnight.

As for tomorrow, we'll see decreasing clouds with perhaps a couple stray showers and highs in the 80s.

Looking Ahead: Thursday looks generally quiet with mostly to partly sunny skies, some stray showers and highs in the 80s. A chance of showers and thunderstorms returns Thursday night into Friday.
