Firefighter Hurt After Blaze Engulfs 3 Buildings In Newark

NEWARK, New Jersey (CBSNewYork) -- Firefighters responded to a 3-alarm fire Tuesday morning where three buildings had become engulfed in flames, resulting in one firefighter suffering injuries.

At approximately 6:14 a.m., firefighters responded to the first call involving three homes between 16th and 15th Ave. on S. 9th St., including two 2-story homes and one 3-story.

One firefighter was injured and was transported to St. Barnabas Medical Center for treatment, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety.

The fire displaced 11 people from their homes, including four children and seven adults.

The cause and origin of this fire is under investigation by the Newark Fire Division's Arson Unit.
