FDR Drive reopens after tractor-trailer hits overpass

NEW YORK -- A traffic headache on the FDR Drive Monday morning has been resolved. 

A tractor-trailer hit the tunnel on the southbound side near East 90th Street around 2:30 a.m., shearing off its roof. Crews worked to offload its cargo before it was removed.  

All lanes were closed near the accident site for several hours. 

The accident was cleared and traffic was seen flowing by around 10 a.m.

Police shut down the southbound lanes below 91st Street during the Monday morning commute. 

Drivers were told to use the Henry Hudson Parkway as an alternate route.

Trucks are not allowed on drives and parkways in New York City.
