Woman Killed In NJ TRANSIT Crash Remembered As Kind, Happy

HOBOKEN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- The 34-year-old woman killed in Thursday's NJ TRANSIT train crash in Hoboken is being remembered as a loving mother, wife and friend.

Fabiola Bittar de Kroon was the kind of person everyone loved, friends from her native Brazil told CBS2's Jessica Moore.

De Kroon had just dropped off her 22-month-old daughter, Julia, at a day care center in Hobken before she was killed.

"It's incredibly tragic," said Dan McMenamin, whose son goes to the same day care.

De Kroon's sudden death leaves her husband, Daan de Kroon, to father their toddler alone.

"It's difficult to handle by yourself," McMenamin said. "So without the mother there, especially after dealing with such a loss -- my heart goes out to them."

Friends said Fabiola, her husband and their young daughter had just moved into an apartment complex in Hoboken earlier this year. In fact, they say she was on her way to look for a new place to live when she was killed.

"It's something you have to live with," McMenamin said. "It's something you have to try and deal with as best you can on a day-to-day basis and hope for the best."

Friends said Fabiola was a kind, lighthearted, happy person who was loved by all who knew her and someone whose light will shine long after her time on earth.
