Ex-Giant Luke Petitgout Charged With Sexual Assault
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Former New York Giants player Luke Petitgout has been charged with assault and sexual assault in New Jersey.
Petitgout's attorney, Patrick J. Jennings, said Tuesday the allegations are "baseless" and he intends to "vigorously defend" the former offensive lineman.
"The charges are entirely without merit," Jennings said, according to NJ.com.
Petitgout was being held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County jail.
The charges were filed in Pascack Joint Municipal Court on Tuesday. Prosecutors didn't immediately respond to an email seeking details of the alleged crimes.
Petitgout, 38, had a misdemeanor harassment case against him dropped in New York last year after he was accused of hitting his wife and shoving her out of a moving car.
Petitgout played college football at Notre Dame and spent eight seasons with the Giants and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
