Eli Manning Won't Play In Giants' Preseason Opener
RUTHERFORD, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Quarterback Eli Manning won't play in the Giants' preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins.
Coach Ben McAdoo announced the decision Friday morning, hours before the game at MetLife Stadium.
McAdoo, who is in his first season as the Giants coach after spending the last two as their offensive coordinator, says he knows what Manning can do.
Ryan Nassib, who has thrown 10 passes in his first three seasons with the Giants, will start.
Receiver Victor Cruz, linebacker Keenan Robinson and defensive end Kerry Wynn will not play for the Giants because of groin injuries.
Among the Dolphins not making the trip are defensive tackle Earl Mitchell and cornerback Chris Culliver. Veteran free agent running back Arian Foster is not expected to play.
