Emergency Crews Rescue Person Drowning In East River

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Emergency crews raced to rescue a person drowning in the East River on Saturday.

It happened off Astoria Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. in Astoria, Queens.

It's not clear how the person ended up in the water, but two EMTs jumped in to make the rescue along with an FDNY lieutenant.

The patient was taken to Mount Sinai. No word on the person's condition.
