Police: Driver Wanted In Deadly Hit-And-Run In East Harlem
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are searching for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run in East Harlem early Saturday.
Investigators said the person behind the wheel of a white sedan struck a pedestrian who was crossing the intersection at East 110th Street and Third Avenue around 12:30 a.m.
The victim, who has been identified as 51-year-old Manuel Enealada-Villa, died at the scene.
Police said the driver lost control of the car and crashed few blocks away then ran from the scene. The driver has not yet been found.
The family of Enealada-Villa says he was heading home from his construction job when he was struck and killed.
Enealada-Villa was a father of four from Ecuador.
Ana Villa, the victim's partner of 20 years, spoke to CBS2 in Spanish with a translator.
"He was very loving, kind, generous, very responsible. He was a good father, a good son," she said. "I just feel like I can't do anything. I just want justice."
The victim's family plans to bury him in Ecuador.
