Dog Has A Home After 10 Years Wandering Washington Heights, Inwood

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A rescued dog that spent a decade roaming the streets of Upper Manhattan was headed home with his new owner Thursday night.

The dog, named Charlie, was released from a veterinary hospital Thursday evening, CBS2 reported.

For 10 years, the shepherd mix traveled between Inwood Hill Park on the west edge of Inwood, and Highbridge Park on the east edge of Washington Heights.

On Monday, residents took the dog to a veterinarian after he seemed lethargic.

Charlie was reluctant to get back into the cold Thursday night, but it appeared he was on the road to recovery.
