Detective: Daughter Of Slain Valley Cottage Woman Not Cooperating In Investigation
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Investigators say the daughter of a woman who was fatally stabbed in her Rockland County home last weekend is no longer cooperating in the investigation.
As WCBS 880's Jim Smith reported, Peggy Nadell was found stabbed to death inside her Valley Cottage home last Saturday. Police said Nadell's daughter, Susanne, had found her body.
Now, Clarkstown detective Stephen Cole-Hatchart says Susanne has hired a lawyer and that investigators have been unable to talk with her.
"The attorney initially said he would and the next morning when they arrived he advised us that she would not speak to us and they were not willing to cooperate," Cole-Hatchart said.
Cole-Hatchart says police are continuing to pursue all other avenues of the investigation, including forensics and speaking with friends and acquaintances, but without what he calls one of the most common sources of basic information, Smith reported.
Susanne's husband also hired an attorney, Smith reported.
Police have previously said they believe Nadell knew her killer. "We're fairly certain that the victim was familiar with her assailant," Cole-Hatchart said.
Investigators say no one has been excluded from the list of possible suspects.
