NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The Commission on Presidential Debates has announced the moderators for the 2016 general election presidential and vice presidential debates.

ABC's Martha Raddatz and CNN's Anderson Cooper are doing the second at Washington University in St. Louis and Fox News Channel's Chris Wallace the third at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.
The CPD on Friday also announced that CBS News correspondent Elaine Quijano will moderate the vice presidential debate between Republican Mike Pence and Democrat Tim Kaine at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia.
"These journalists bring extensive experience to the job of moderating, and understand the importance of using expanded time periods effectively," CPD co-chairs Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr. and Michael D. McCurry said in a statement. "We are grateful for their willingness to moderate, and confident that the public will learn more about the candidates and the issues as a result."
The CPD said the first debate at Hofstra will be divided into six, 15-minute segments on major topics that will be selected by the moderator and announced at least a week before.
The first debate was originally scheduled to be held at Wright State University in Ohio, but the school bowed out citing "cost and safety concerns." It's expected to cost around $5 million for Hofstra to host the event.
Hofstra previously held a 2012 debate between now President Barack Obama and then-Republican candidate Mitt Romney.
