1 Passenger Killed In 7-Vehicle Crash On Van Wyck Expressway
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- One person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the Van Wyck Expressway early Saturday.
A total of seven vehicles were involved.
Police said a 2011 Chevy SUV, driven by a 29-year-old man, was traveling north when it collided with a 2012 Acura sedan, driven by a 27-year-old woman, also heading north. The Acura then crossed the median into the southbound lanes, where it hit a 2015 Jeep SUV, driven by a 48-year-old man, and a 2016 Ford truck, driven by a 43-year-old man. A 2011 Honda sedan, also heading south, was struck by debris.
The Chevy and Acura then continued north and collided with a 2012 Toyota SUV, driven by a 57-year-old man, police said. The Chevy also struck a 2005 BMW sedan, driven by a 24-year-old man.

Police said the drivers of the Acura, Chevy, Jeep and Ford were taken to the hospital in stable condition, along with a passenger in the Chevy. A passenger in the Acura was killed.
The deceased was identified as 38-year-old Jairo Castano, of Brooklyn.
The Van Wyck was closed in both directions at Jewel Avenue in Queens for several hours as investigators worked to determine if weather conditions were to blame for the wreck.
