Police: LI Man Sent Sexually Explicit Photos To Young Girls
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Long Island man is accused of sending sexually explicit photos to young girls after sending them friend requests on social media.
Daniel Arturo Monrroy Pineda, 27, of Hempstead, was arrested Tuesday on 10 counts of disseminating indecent material to a minor.
Authorities say he used the screen name "Papi'' on the social media app ooVoo to send friend requests to numerous girls between the ages of 11 and 14.
Police told WCBS 880's Sophia Hall that Pineda pretended to be much younger than he actually was, and used a photo of him as a teenager on his ooVoo profile.
When the requests were accepted, Pineda sent the girls sexually explicit photos and videos, police said. Police said they received six complaints.
"The girls collectively went to the administrator of their school," Sgt. Richard Harrison said. "They told the administrator what happened. The administrator then directed that they should contact police about this.
It wasn't immediately clear if he had a lawyer who could comment on the charges. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.
