'Daily Show' Facing Backlash For 'Go Knock Someone Up In Texas' Abortion Ruling Tweet
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- "The Daily Show'' is facing backlash on social media for a tweet about the Supreme Court's decision on Texas abortion laws.
The tweet struck a celebratory tone about the ruling followed by a suggestion to get women in Texas pregnant. Some users supported the tweet's attempt at humor, but many suggested it was in bad taste.
Celebrate the #SCOTUS ruling! Go knock someone up in Texas!

Within a couple of hours, "The Daily Show'' replied with a second tweet explaining they weren't promoting abortions.
"Friends, we're certainly not promoting abortions. Just excited about #SCOTUS reaffirming right to choose," the account tweeted out.
On Monday, the Supreme Court issued its strongest defense of abortion rights in a quarter-century by striking down Texas rules that sharply reduced abortion clinics in the nation's second-most-populous state.
The show did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
