Cuomo Fires Back After Trump Criticizes New York State Spending
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It seems as though no barb from Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump goes unanswered.
As WCBS 880's Rich Lamb reported, Gov. Andrew Cuomo fired back Thursday at the criticism that Trump lobbed at him the night before.
Trump on Wednesday blasted the tens of millions in taxpayer dollars that New York state has spent on the governor's Start Up NY Jobs program.
Trump told a conservative audience that the money could have been better spent.
The faintest smile crept across Cuomo's face as WCBS 880's Lamb asked him about the remark.
"You know, we have states all day trying to steal our businesses and lure them to other states, so we made great progress. We've cut taxes. We're a pro-growth and pro-business state. We want people to know that," Cuomo said. "Obviously, the message is effective because the last time I checked, Donald Trump is located in the state of New York, right?"
Cuomo chuckled and added, "Is anyone shocked that Donald Trump criticized anything?"
