Suspect Captured After Bolting From Custody In Crown Heights, Brooklyn, Police Say

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A prisoner was recaptured late Tuesday after police said he bolted from in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

Police told CBS2 that Dwyane McCleary, 21, who had been wanted on second-degree robbery charges, escaped from while in handcuffs around 8:15 p.m.

He took off as officers tried to place him in the back of a squad car in front of his home at Troy Avenue and Dean Street in Brooklyn, police said.

One officer suffered a minor hand laceration during the incident and was being treated at an area hospital late Tuesday, police told 1010 WINS.

Police said at 10:20 p.m. that McCleary had been located and apprehended after spending about two hours on the loose.

He was found hiding in a nearby apartment building, police said.
