Westbound Cross-Bronx Expressway Partially Shut Down After Truck Gets Caught In Wires

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The westbound Cross-Bronx Expressway was partially shut down during the evening rush, and traffic around the Bronx was gridlocked, after a semi-trailer truck became tangled in wires.

The truck was tangled beneath the wires at the Jerome Avenue underpass, Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2.

The FDNY was trying to figure out how to turn off the power to the wires, and the westbound side of the expressway was closed at Jerome Avenue at the height of the evening rush.

Traffic was backed up on the Cross-Bronx all the way up the New England Thruway, and traffic on local streets was gridlocked, Biermann reported.

The expressway fully reopened just before 7 p.m.
