Crane boom collapses onto Brooklyn rooftop

NEW YORK -- Part of a crane collapsed in Brooklyn during a construction accident on Thursday.

Emergency crews are at the scene at 1442 44th Street between 14th Avenue and 15th in Borough Park, where part of the crane broke and crashed onto a building below.

The streets around the building, which appears to be residential with multiple apartment units, remain blocked off as crews try to remove the boom from the roof.

FDNY said the incident is under control. All construction workers and occupants were accounted for and there were no reports of any injuries, according to the fire department.
