Cops: Westbury Man Stabbed Ex-Girlfriend In Uniondale

NEW YORK(AP) -- Police say they have arrested a man on attempted murder charges for allegedly stabbing his former girlfriend multiple times in the neck and shoulder.

Alvin Smith, of Westbury, is accused of walking up to his ex-girlfriend as she walked in Uniondale on Wednesday and stabbing her with a large knife.

Police say it happened at 10:15 P.M. on Nassau Road.

The victim, who had an order of protection against Smith, was treated at a hospital.

Police say the knife was recovered.

Police charged Smith with second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal contempt and other charges. He was set to be arraigned Thursday.

It wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer.
