Cops Arrest Driver After Dozens Of Drunken Teens Found On Limo Bus In Southampton
SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island limo bus driver was arrested Monday night after they found dozens of drunken teenagers and large amounts of booze aboard his vehicle, authorities said.
State troopers made the discovery around 9:30 p.m. after receiving a 911 call about a woman screaming at an eastbound Sunrise Highway rest area in Southampton.
There were 42 people, all ages 16 and 17, in various stages of intoxication aboard the limo bus, police said. Troopers also said they found more than 100 cans of beer and several bottles, both unopened and empty, of whisky and rum.
The teens were en route from Garden City to Montauk. This week is spring break at most area schools.
Police charged the driver, Luis Guevara-Henriquz, 26, of Hempstead, with endangering the welfare of children. All of the teenagers were turned over to their relatives.
