Congressman Peter King To Head To Israel In Show Of Support
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Congressman Peter King plans to visit Israel and show his support as the nation's conflict with Hamas continues.
Rep. King told WCBS 880's Jim Smith it would be a short trip.
"We'll only be there for three days, but during those three days from morning till night, we are gonna be working completely, almost around the clock," the lawmaker said.
King is expected to meet with Israeli officials, and tour the tunnels as well as places hit by violence, Smith reported.
The trip, organized by the New York Board of Rabbis, also includes former Gov. David Paterson in the delegation.
"This is not a Republican or Democratic issue," King said. "It's an American issue. It's to show that there is no partisan divide."
King said he wants the Israeli people to know U.S. elected officials stand with them and that their cause is just.
Earlier this month, Gov. Andrew Cuomo led a delegation to Israel in a show of solidarity during a time of conflict for the country.
