Company To Launch Helicopter Service To JFK, Newark Airports
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Why sit in traffic on your way to the airport when you can just fly over it?
Helicopter service Gotham Air wants to make a perk of the rich and famous available to everyone.
"There's certainly the volume to support and justify top-of-the-line helicopter service for everybody," CEO Tim Hayes said.
As WCBS 880's Marla Diamond reported, a six-minute flight to Newark Liberty or JFK will be $99; after the introductory ride, prices will range from $199 to $219.
The chopper will depart from Wall Street, and east and west side heliports.
While Gotham Air is geared toward the "Average Joe," Hayes says the choppers are first-rate.
"These are rock star quality, movie star quality, beautiful helicopters," he said.
The service will launch February 9.
