Over the next two weeks, WCBS 880′s Wayne Cabot will take a look at the law and its impact on the decades that follow.

On a summer day in 1963, with the Civil Rights Act still pending, 200,000 demonstrators gathered at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to demand the legislation be passed.
A year later, the Civil Rights Act was approved.
