City Food Banks Continue To Help The Hungry

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- For New Yorkers in need, the threat of going hungry doesn't diminish after Thanksgiving is over.

Staffers and volunteers at the Food Bank For New York City were serving up meals to the hungry on Friday.

"It means a lot because sometimes during the week we don't have the amenities to have that meal for the day," 63-year-old Cornell Wright tells WCBS 880's Peter Haskell.

Brady Koch, Chief Program Officer for the food bank, says New Yorkers are hungry every day of the year.

"Unfortunately people do without, and that's something we don't want to have happen," he adds.

According to Koch, the facility on 116th Street serves nearly 500 meals a day.
