Cinco de Mayo Food, Drink Specials In NYC: Dos Caminos, Fonda, More

Who's ready to party? Here are five New York City restaurants and hotels that are celebrating Cinco de Mayo with plenty of drink and food specials. By Carly Petrone.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo on the Pod 39 Rooftop with a margarita in hand. Not only can you sip on $10 Frozen Hibiscus Ginger margaritas, but you can also dance to live music provided by the always-festive Mariachi Tapatio De Alvaro Paulino. Nosh on carnitas duo or chicken tinga duo tacos from Salvation Taco's sky-high taco cart and pile on all of your favorite fixings. If you're only in the mood for a snack, definitely try the homemade chicharron for just $5. Wash it all down with Negra Modelo on draft or a refreshing Mezcal Mule while dancing the night away with magnificent views of the Manhattan skyline.

Dos Caminos is ready to celebrate all week long with daily $5 specials starting May 1. From Coronas to churros y chocolate, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Stop in on Cinco de Mayo for menu specials that include Alaskan king crab guacamole, soft shell crab cemitas, and crepas de cajeta (banana stuffed pistachio crepes with papantla vanilla ice cream and whipped cream). Plus, if you're looking to celebrate at home, they'll be offering Cinco de Mayo party boxes, which serve up to 10 peole. Pick up everything you'll need to throw a serious fiesta, including guacamole and chips, tacos, quesadillas, and margarita mix for $175. See website for details.

Take advantage of the three-hour happy hour happening at Fonda this Cinco de Mayo! From 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. guests can enjoy drink specials like the Su Casa ($9), made with Milagro Bianco, Montelobos Mezcal, lime juice, pineapple, and cinnamon syrup. There will also be food specials available like cinco chiles enchiladas and taco soup. Dance along to live Mariachi music at all three Fonda locations. Mariachi Guadalajara will go on at their Park Slope location starting at 7 p.m., Mariachi Nuevo Sol performs at their East Village location at 9 p.m., and Mariachi Cuerdas de Mexico goes on at 9 p.m. at their Chelsea location. You can celebrate at all three locations if you can swing it!

Enjoy Mexican Street food specials at Temerario this Cinco De Mayo. Try everything from tacos arabe-poblano (Puebla-style marinated pork, za'atar bread, chipotle meca-piloncillo salsa) to camaron para pelar (peel n' eat shrimp, Valentina, Negra Modela, consommé, and avocado). Meat eaters can nosh on tacos suadero – brisket, salsa, tatemeada, radish salad – while vegetarians can try the refreshing frutas con chile – jicama, mango, cucumber, papaya and chile piquin. The restaurant's regular menu will also be available along with their incredible cocktails and always tasty micheladas.

If you're looking for a rooftop fiesta then make your way to Gansevoort Park Avenue. This Cinco de Mayo, they'll be celebrating with unmatched Empire State views and taco specials ($15 for three). Favorites include carne asada served with charred shishito peppers, salsa verde, and cipollini onion or the rock shrimp with spicy aioli, smashed avocado and radish. Sip on $10 margaritas and $6 draft Coronas. Mingle with friends (or make new ones) while enjoying the spectacular view of the city.
