Gov. Chris Christie On WFAN: 'I Just Don't Care About The Nets'
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- New Jersey Governor Chris Christie says he'd be rooting for the Nets in the playoffs had they never moved to Brooklyn.
But of course, they did. So he has no horse in this race.
"I'm not rooting for the Heat. But I'm not rooting for the Nets, either. I really don't care," Christie said Monday on WFAN's "Boomer & Carton" show. "They're not in New Jersey anymore. They're not my team -- I'm a Knicks fan. And so the fact is, I just don't care."

Christie famously bid the franchise adieu in 2012 by saying, "They want to leave here and go to Brooklyn? Good riddance." And he declined to give the Nets any words of encouragement when a TMZ cameraman caught up with him at the White House Correspondent's Dinner over the weekend.
But Christie admitted it wouldn't kill him if the Nets manage to beat the defending champion Heat in Round 2.
"I just don't care about the Nets. If they played in New Jersey, I'd be pulling for them and rooting for them," he said. "I'm not a fan of the Nets, never have been."
The Nets still practice in East Rutherford, N.J., though the team is reportedly looking to move into a facility in Brooklyn, which would sever all ties with the Garden State.
"Listen, Boomer, I don't root for everybody that pays taxes," Christie said. "Although lately I'm rooting for even more people to pay taxes given some of the problems we have over here."
Christie proved just how little he cares about the Nets, spending more time talking about the Rangers, Mets, Yankees and just about everything else -- including February's Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium.
"The only thing I wasn't happy about was the (Super Bowl), because it was so boring. Other than that, everything went well," he said. "I can't imagine that the NFL wouldn't want to come back to the New Jersey-New York area at some point to do it again. It has attractions that no other place in the country has."
