16 Residents Displaced In Early Morning Fire In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- More than a dozen residents have been displaced after a fire spread through three homes in the Bronx.

The blaze broke out just after 4 a.m. Tuesday at a home on Bryant Avenue by East 172nd Street in the Charlotte Gardens section.

Fire crews on the scene said it started in a garage and then quickly spread to two neighboring homes. Video from the scene showed flames shooting from the roof of one of the buildings.

In all, 16 residents were forced to evacuate, including one man who said he lost everything in the fire.

"I woke up, I looked out my window and I see the whole back, like big fire," he told CBS2's Ilana Gold. "I'm just upset right now."

Everyone got out safely, but one firefighter was treated for a minor injury.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
