CDC: No Infectious Disease Risk Found In Sick Passenger Aboard JFK-Bound Flight
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A sick passenger aboard a flight bound for John F. Kennedy International Airport was deemed to pose no infectious disease risk, the Centers for Disease Control said Tuesday.
Port Authority said around 5:30 p.m., the CDC was notified of a possible infectious passenger on Etihad Airways Flight EY101 from Abu Dhabi.
The CDC said the passenger suffered from seizures, but responded because of a heightened alert due to the spread of the Ebola virus.
"There are even isolation rooms at Kennedy Airport, which is of course an important portal of entry for people from all over the world. And then there, infection control precautions are taken," New York City Health Commissioner Mary Bassett told CBS 2's Tracee Carrasco.
As a second American who contracted Ebola in Liberia arrived in the United States for special treatment, doctors at Mount Sinai Hospital were still waiting Tuesday night for test results of a patient who showed Ebola-like symptoms Monday.

The patient is being held in isolation at the hospital in East Harlem.
They have reportedly not shown any signs of the Ebola virus, but the possibility that the deadly virus may be in New York City at all has caused concern.
The hospital said it will take 24 to 48 hours for testing to be completed.
