CBS2 Exclusive: Man Drives From Chicago To Return Lost Dog Tags To Brooklyn Veteran

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- In a CBS2 exclusive, a local veteran was reunited with his lost military dog tags Saturday in Brooklyn.

Brian Gagen, who found the dog tags, drove all the way from Chicago to hand them to veteran Josh Gelles. Gagen said he found the dog tag six months ago and used Facebook to track down Gelles.

"I was upset when I lost them and you just kind of deal with it and so it was really amazing when he reached out to me," said Gelles.

"He mentioned something about putting it in an envelope and I just refused," Gagen said.  "I couldn't bring myself to put them in an envelope. They were lost once and I didn't want to chance it again."

In a strange twist, the two men met each other briefly through a mutual friend in Chicago back in 2008.
