Caught On Camera: Man Rips Chain From Woman's Neck At Brooklyn Bus Stop

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are asking the public for help in identifying a man caught on video ripping a chain from a woman's neck in Brooklyn.

At around 1 p.m. on July 18, a man walks by a woman waiting at a bus stop at the corner of Mermaid Avenue and West 31st Street.

He can be seen on surveillance video walking back toward the woman, stopping and forcibly ripping a chain from her neck.

The woman, 54, then falls face-first onto the sidewalk.

The suspect is seen on video fleeing the scene, and is chased by two people.

The victim was taken to Coney Island Hospital and was treated for a laceration for her head, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s, weighing approximately 160 pounds and standing 5-feet-7-inches tall.

He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, dark shorts with white sneakers.
