Woman Found Bound, Shot Dead In Bushwick Apartment

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Walking alongside homicide detectives with their heads down in silence, Ana Devalle's children are now dealing with the loss of their mom right before Mother's Day.

New York police officers responded to a report of an assault inside the Bushwich Houses on Moore Street in Bushwick around 6:45 p.m. Friday, reports CBS2's Reena Roy.

"There's no excuse for something like that happen to her," said friend Grace Colom.

"This woman didn't deserve to die," said neighbor Rahteek Miller. "She was very quiet never saw her get into trouble with anyone."

Sources say the daughter of 62-year-old Delvalle found her dead in their living room at the Bushwick Houses on Friday night.

She had been shot multiple times in the head with her hands bound together.

Investigators recovered multiple .380 caliber shell casings at the scene, according to sources.

The home is now padlocked and sealed by the NYPD as investigators work to figure out who killed her.

"Do you know who would've done this?" said Colom. "I don't know… I'm so surprised that she would've been murdered."

Sources tell CBS2 Delvalle was last seen Friday at around 8 a.m. and that whoever did this crime did not have to force his or her way into the family apartment where Delvalle lived with her children for years.

"You just know somebody and they're kind and sweet and friendly private," said Colom.

A balloon and candles now burn here in memory of Delvalle, who should have been celebrating Mother's Day with her children this weekend. Instead they'll be saying their final goodbyes.
