1 Dead, 4 Injured When Small Bus, Ambulette Crash Near Palisades Center Mall

WEST NYACK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - One person was killed and four others were injured Thursday after an ambulette and small bus crashed near the Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack.

Around 2:30 p.m., Clarkstown police were sent to Route 303 and Palisades Center Drive for a report of a serious crash.

A minibus carrying two passengers and an ambulette carrying one passenger collided at the traffic light, police said.

The left side of the ambulette was completely crushed.

All the passengers were taken to Nyack Hospital, police said. The 48-year-old man who had been in the ambulette was pronounced dead.

Four others were also injured – one seriously – but none of the injuries were considered life-threatening, police said.

The cause of the accident had not been determined late Thursday.

Route 303 from Palisades Center Drive North to Palisades Center Drive South was closed after the accident.
