WATCH: Bruce Springsteen Sings Prince's 'Purple Rain' In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- One '80s icon paid tribute to another Saturday night when Bruce Springsteen opened his show at Barclays Center with a cover of Prince's "Purple Rain."

The Boss and his E Street Band walked out under purple lights before launching into the ballad. He ended the song by telling the crowd, "Prince, forever, God Bless."

Prince, 57, died Thursday. His cause of death is currently unknown and will likely remain a mystery for weeks.

Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform again Sunday night at Barclays.
