1 Dead, 2 Injured In Shooting In Brownsville, Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- One person was killed and two more were injured in a shooting in Brownsville, Brooklyn Thursday evening.
Around 8:15 p.m., the police Operation Unit was dispatched after the ShotSpotter detection system revealed gunfire at 807 Saratoga Ave. in Brooklyn, police said. The ShotSpotter uses sensors to detect gunfire in city neighborhoods.
Responding officers found that three men had been shot. One man, 21, was pronounced dead at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center after being wounded in the torso, police said.
The other two victims, men ages 18 and 20, were wounded in the arm and were taken to the same hospital, police said. Their conditions were reported as stable.
As CBS2's Matt Kozar reported, circumstances of the shooting remained unclear late Thursday. But a neighbor said he feared for his safety, and said he saw a man with a bandana covering his face get out of a car, start shooting, and get back in.
At the scene late Thursday night, paper cups were on the ground to protect the shell casings that were left at the scene as evidence.
A police security camera was pointing directly toward the scene where the shooting happened, Kozar reported.
Late Thursday, there had been no arrests and the investigation continued.
