Man Faces Murder, Other Charges In Connection With Deadly Brooklyn Stabbing
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) --A man faces several charges in the stabbing death of a 22-year-old woman in Brooklyn.
At 5:30 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a 911 call for a woman stabbed at 60 Clarkson Ave in Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
Upon arrival, officers found Toni Cox with stab wounds to the torso. She was taken to Kings County Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Cox had once lived at the building, CBS2's Steve Langford reported.
She was visiting the sixth floor apartment of a friend and was killed after getting into an argument with the friend's ex, sources told 1010 WINS' Roger Stern.
Friends and neighbors are grief stricken and angry.
"Not good, not good, not good at all. I lost my baby girl," Cox's anguished father Derrick Moore told 1010 WINS' Roger Stern.
"Nobody should have to lose their life like that," neighbor Janice Thomas said.
"What I know is my sister-in-law is dead and somebody have to pay for it," the victim's sister-in-law Joni Gary-Smith said.
Late Saturday, police announced Alwasi Tyson, 35, of Brooklyn, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, four counts of acting in a manner injurious to a child, and criminal possession of a weapon.
The building where Cox was found had served as an emergency shelter for homeless families, but had not been used for that purpose since October.
