Brooklyn Resident Jumps From Window To Escape Fire

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- One person is in critical condition after jumping out of a window to escape a fire in Brooklyn.

The fire broke out at 247 Clifton Place in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn Saturday afternoon, CBS 2 reported.

The flames started inside a second-floor apartment.

There were several people in the home at the time.

Two people were treated for smoke inhalation, while the person who jumped remained in critical condition Saturday evening.

"The fire department got here in like 2 minutes, the fire lasted about 20 minutes. No firefighter injuries, just three civilian injuries," an FDNY official said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
