Nets Waive Jarrett Jack, Save Nearly $6 Million
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Brooklyn Nets continued their roster shakeup Thursday, waiving point guard Jarrett Jack.
Jack, 32, was due to make $6.3 million next season, but because the Nets parted ways with him by Thursday's deadline, they only owe him $500,000. The team reportedly tried to trade him but found no takers.
Jack was having a strong season last year, averaging 12.8 points and a career-best 7.4 assists per game, before he suffered a season-ending knee injury Jan. 2.
The Nets now have a hole to fill in their starting lineup at point guard. One potential player they might target is Charlotte's Jeremy Lin. The Charlotte Observer reported that the Nets "might hard-sell" the journeyman guard.

New Brooklyn coach Kenny Atkinson was an assistant coach with the Knicks when "Lin-sanity" took New York by storm in 2012.
Other top point guards hitting the market are Memphis' Mike Conley and Sacramento's Rajon Rondo.
New Nets general manager Sean Marks has gutted much of the roster he inherited. Andrea Bargnani and Joe Johnson were bought out of their contracts last season, and Thaddeus Young was traded last week to the Indiana Pacers.
