17 injured in Brooklyn crash involving MTA bus, 2 other vehicles, police say

Wrong-way driver crashes into minivan, MTA bus in Brooklyn, police say

NEW YORK -- More than a dozen people were injured in a crash involving an MTA bus in Brooklyn, police say.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Livonia and Pennsylvania avenues in East New York.

According to police, a 60-year-old driving a Lexus was heading south when he ended up in the northbound lane while trying to make a turn. The driver struck a parked minivan with four people inside, including a 3-year-old boy. Police say the Lexus driver then crashed into a B20 bus.

Officials say 17 people were hurt, including the driver of the minivan, with 11 taken to a local hospital. We're told all of the injuries are minor.

According to police, the Lexus driver fled the scene after the crash, but he was caught a few blocks away. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

Charges are pending.
