Boys, Ages 9 And 12, Found Safe After Going Missing In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Two boys, ages 9 and 12, have been reported missing from the Crown Heights neighborhood in Brooklyn have been found safe Thursday night.

Sources told CBS2 the children disappeared around 9 a.m. Thursday heading north on Schenectady Avenue near Prospect Place in Crown Heights.

The 9-year-old was identified as Lazir Dixon. The 12-year-old was identified as Treston Dixon. Both were found by the NYPD around 6:30 p.m.

The boys were allegedly in a vehicle together before jumping out and running away.

One witness said he also saw what he thought were family members of the boys frantic for help finding them.

"They seemed worried and like they really do care about these kids," he said.

Those who live in the area were uneasy about the disappearances.

"It's nerve-racking," said Derrick Gray. "I talk to my kids about safety, that's number one, it starts at home. Don't talk to strangers, not taking detours. If you're going somewhere, go straight there. Be constantly on them and reminding them the dangers that are outside and what's around them."

Police confirm the boys were found safe in a playground in Brooklyn, but have not provided any other details.
